I tried the door card sealing...didn,t work.....so I cut small slots in the door rubbers front and rear of door aperture, that worked...the Tolly,s been dry for the last 2 yrs now.
don't suppose you could post up some images steve?
my doors are sealed all the way round and it's still pissing in,my door seals look "new" so i think maybe previous owner has had something done but it's not worked.
Do you cut where they fix into the door with the rubber grommets(i love that word
).we have stared using newspaper in the footwell to soak the water up.
Sorry Weejase my wife is the comp. expert and she,ss at work...but I,ll try to explain, I think some people just cut slots in the big fat door rubbers (I know it seems like you are damaging the car to fix it) Just cut the slots where the water builds up on top of the rubber at the bottom (you know when you open the door after a big rain and it pees on your shoe) I first tried to put neat holes with a paper punch but couldn,t get a big enough one, so I reverted to a sharp craft knife (the sharper the neater) I also cut some slots in the door rubber (the one you have to lie on your back on the cold wet ground to see) in the areas of the door drain holes (you can find these by running your finger along between the rubbber and the door (more slime in there than a "hippocrocoslags" fanny) Sorry again about no pics and it will look like you are destroying/damaging good door rubbers just dont cut anymore than 3/4s of the way across them, you are aiming to make a channel for the water to run away from the interior and onto the floor via the sills.don't suppose you could post up some images steve?

cheers for that,i think i have done it without damaging anything. electrics are fooked,vag com can't find central convenience or central locking controllers.I am just praying its just the one thats gone and the other works off it.
Door Rubbers
Just reading all these threads on water ingress again, I seem to remember that when the carpet was wet, my central locking played up a bit....doors locked but indicators didn,t flash.....soon as it dried out all went back to normal. By the way does anybody else reading this thread know if it is normal for the doors to relock again on their own, if you open the car throw the keys on the seat but get distracted and do something else??? it didn,t happen to me, but I could see how it could, after just a few minutes they all lock again if you don,t put the keys in the ignition and turn it on. (T Reg Tolly 110TDIS in metallic blue)

The doors re lock themselves after either 30 or 60 seconds if you unlock the door using the central locking, but don't actually open the door. HOWEVER, if you have a faulty door switch (as in the courtesy lights don't come on when you open a door) then the car would re lock itself as it can't see a door has been opened.

Thanks...I,ll check the courtesy lights, Its the wifes car now, so I only reverse it into the garage every night when she comes home. She wouldn,t notice if the courtesy lights didn,t work, but I should, having said that I always have the lights on in the garage so maybe I just didn,t notice with all the light around.
