Yep, someone took a key right down the drivers side some while ago actually, but due to workload and weather I've not had chance to get a decent look at it. But it was a nice day yesterday and it was Fathers day, so I took some time out to have a go at it.

I'm not much of a one for manic detailing but I like to give the car a really good go once every 6 months and then just snow foam and wash in between. It was due it's 6 monthly polish.

Anyway, just for a laugh I took a few photos before and after, not even knowing how they'd come out. These are a couple from a similar angle and show what it was like before...

You can still see the scratch as it's down to the primer in some places (just under the window of the house reflection) but it's loads better.

I hate people who think its funny to key cars..... ggggggrrrr

looks like uv done a good job on it tho hon.

xx

To be fair, I've come to accept that at some point someone's going to have a go at the car, simply because they're allowed to get away with it. So, 18 months without any attention before it got done in Marks & Spencers carpark in Darlington, wasn't too bad I suppose.

I considered getting it resprayed, but that's a blank canvas for the next time really so decided to leave it.

It was washed with Meguiars shampoo and a cheapo wash mitt from poundland, and then I was going to use Autoglym Super Resin Polish, but when I went to the box I had 2 bottles of Autoglym glass polish. Must've bought the wrong bottle at some point. So then I used Meguiars deep crystal Carnauba wax.

Interesting indeed. Is the scratch still visible to the eye? I am guessing the wax has masked it unless its got an abrasive nature to it.

It's so deep it's down into the primer in some places. Other places it's virtually invisible now it's been polished. So yes, you can catch a fingernail in it on the drivers door, just where I've highlighted it in red. If you look in the reflection and see the house opposite, there's a really bad bit just between the upstairs window and the top of their car.

Deep then. :( Otherwise, I was going to offer to machine it with some scratch compound.... :)

Over the summer months while I've got a bit of spare time, I'm going to invest in a machine polisher and destroy the daughters car for practise. Then I'll have a go at the Altea and touch up some of the dings & scratches it's gathered (unfortunatley some are on the alloys [:@] , bloody women drivers.).
