Found a cheap lcr 52 reg 93,000 on t'autotrader for 6.200,phoned the guy and got it down to 5.500 before i even saw it.Anyway i was suppose to go and see it tomorrow nite but it came up CAT D on a hpi report i carried out at work today.(the guy said it was hpi clear)
I called him back and told him the good news and his reply was ,tbh, dodgy.
He said he didnt have a clue it was CAT D but said someone else rang him to tell him a few weeks ago.
He immediately asked me what id give him for it so i came up with 4.100 no more.I think this is resonable considering the cercumstances. He said he wants 5000 for it but he hasnt responded to my offer as yet but hasnt said no.
Hpi says it has two former keepers.
What do you think i should do?Offer him 200 more or leave it?
I only have 5000 to spend 5.500 at a push.

My last car (2001 golf gti turbo)was a cat d,i had it for 18months and had no problems with it whatsoever and the best bit was when i came to sell it i lost 100 quid from the price i bought it for!
I dont mind Cat d's aslong as there cheapy cheap. What would a hpi clear 2003 52 plate lcr be worth with 93,000 miles?
It does look in really nice condition on the pics but looks can be deceiving.
Ive got my heart set on a lcr as ive wanted one for as long as i can remember and dont think a normal cupra will satisfy my needs!Oh dilema!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has part service history and just had a full service but no sign of cambelt change(can change it myself so no real problem).
Maybe im being a fool and talking myself into it........

Why do you NEED an LCR? If its something you've wanted for ages, save up or wait and get the real deal - a car that your completely happy with.

I've bought cars without FSH, usually all the old MOTs but not alot of extras. But Cat C/D with a high mileage wouldnt be a goer for me.

My main concern is his negotiability. Far far too easy. He wants to shift it quick. 700 off the price on the phone is not just good, it's worrying.

Agreed with all of the above - its too much monet for a cat D. I am sure an LCR with that mileage would not be much more than £5.5k - so my advice would be not to touch this one and save up for a better one.

He is obviously hiding the cat D - acting dumb and saying his mate told him is total sh1t and I would be worried about what else he is trying to hide.....

£5k is still an awful lot of money, especially if it has not been serviced properly

It has 12 months mot. Hmmmmmm would it be better to look out for a high mileage model?
What mileage are the lcr good for? just rang about a 03 lcr black with fssh 100,000 for 6k but is sold!

I have heard of a couple of people with LCR's over 120k and are still all going good. Some other peeps will hopefully say first hand though....

The fact that you can get a slightly newer LCR with just 7k more miles for an extra 1k (assuming you paid £5k for the cat D one) says it all to me - don't buy the 52 plate cat d - for an extra £1k and piece of mind with (assuming) fsh and no previous damage buy an LCR like the one that is sold - there will be another one soon, just have to wait (I know its hard though!).

yer i think al hang on.Ive got two transit vans to flog so hopefully will make the extra grand up out of them. There was a black lcr on ebay last week with 129k 04 plate for 5.5k buy it now and that sold within a couple of days!Think thats a little too many miles

I always think - and from past experience, things start to go wrong on cars around the 130k mark - my golf died and my gf's old vectra started needing new everything! I think around the 100k mark would be ok - then after an average mileage of 2 years you still have not reached the £130k.

Keep an eye on the SCN for sale section
Theres a couple on there for about £6500
Atleast youve got a better chance the car has been looked after if you buy off a SCN member

walk away.

it could cost more to insure. harder to sell unless price reflects. but on a safety note, you never know the actually history. it scared me watching physical identical focus on fifth gear, but one had been welded etc and in high speed crash, yikes!

Could you guys keep an eye out for me?I like the onvi yelllow lcr's but my gf aint so keen on em so any colour apart from yellow.dont mind travelling any distance either if its worth it.Thanks for the advise guys hopefully i will find the right one within my budget.

i live in cumbria, lake district.Ive could poss stretch to 6k.Are you selling urs?
