Hi,

Just about to get a remap on my FR and was wondering about the brakes.

I have just changed the front pads recently will this be okay for a while using the remap before having to upgrade to Front TT brakes.

Cheers
JJ

It'll be fine. Just remember that you'll have more power so brake in advance, etc.

I think this is a common misconception, more power doesnt necessarily mean you require better brakes, its driving like a loon that does that.
Having a car remapped means that getting up to speed on the mway/cariageway etc is easier and nicer to drive, you arnt going to be flooring it to the ton every time you move away from the lights.

No it doesn't mean you have to have better brakes, it just means you have to be more aware of the speed that you could potentially be carrying and so be able to recognise the need to take that into account when braking.

 No thats right

Kidding aside, imho the standard 288mm brakes are poor for stopping power anyway, upgrade next time you need disc and pads and your laughing :)

A remap makes the car slightly quicker yes, but it doesnt transform into a brake burning beast. Any of our cars are still capable of 100 on a shortish straight, remapped or not, its using common sense not to be raking everywhere in the first place.

Cheers for the replies lads !

Is there any down side to the remap, i mean as far as servicing or parts more likely to wearout more quickly ?

A remapped car driven responsibly will last longer than a standard ragged one mate, if you are heavy on a clutch then on a remapped one then yes it will wear out a little faster but then again, drive sensibly and itll not wear any quicker.
