I have a 2003 1.9 TDi SE spec Alhambra but I do not have the 6 disc CD changer in the drivers side rear cubby hole

Should I still have the CD changer lead running from the back of the headunit to the storage compartment underneath the cubby hole ? If I should have it what shape and colour connector am I looking for ?

Is it possible to remove the coin/storage tray from underneath the headunit and fit a 6 disc in dash unit in its place ? If this is possible what is the product code for the changer and do I need a seperate illumination lead ?

I have the standard SEAT Scala headunit

i would doubt the wiring will be in .. i had the same headunit in my Alhambra, but put a sat nav double din it

taking the coin tray out and putting a cd player in there is the easiest option,,

easy to find on ebay, not sure of the part number

you will need an illumination lead but they are easy to sort out

much better having easy access to the 6 discs than having to go in the boot area

Any details about replacing it with a double din sat nav unit ? Which year and model did you get yours from and is it a simple enough change ?

fit straight in so no issues there

there are a couple on ebay at the minute but they are usually around the £200-£250 mark

you will need to buy a plug and play lead £30 and a gps reciever £20

but you dont get to play cd's with one

i have gone and bought a lead so i can connect my iphone to the radio and play my music that way

I'll see if I can find a CD changer for now as I have a seperate sat nav at the moment but this would be a nice upgrade in the future as I see the MFD unit also has CD changer control so if I can find a proper 6 disc changer for the cubby hole I can still make use of it in the future if I upgrade to the sat nav screen

I bought a cd changer and power lead connector for my cubby hole from a company called Add a CD changer. My 2000 vehicle had the power lead already in place it was just sitting under the cubby hole and had to cut hole through the cubby hole to push it through.

Personally I've moved on from CD changers. A mere 8 hours of CDs and the risk to precious CDs carrying them around in hot cars and getting someone to change them is no more.

An 8GB USB stick delivers over 100 hours of music, but you'd need either a new radio or an MP3 interface for the existing one. Some radios can charge and control an iPod too. all probably no more cost than a CD changer.

Changing the existing radio is a doddle:

you'll need....

a new radio..... something like this......http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kdc-4051ur-car-radio

you'd also need keys to remove the old one, and a lead to provide power to the antenna.

All this material is available from Just Kenwood who supplied all the accessories I needed after I bought a Kenwood unit on eBay. Even though mine has a cd player, I haven't used it!!

Just a thought for you.
