Hi All,

My engine Check light NEVER comes on... a couple of people on here say it should come on when starting the engine...

so...

Should it come on or not? (or has the dodgy dealer removed the bulb?? [:@] or can you even remove the bulb on these? is it a bulb or a diod?

Cheers,

Adam.

should come on at the 2nd stage of the ignition (not sure if im using the correct terminology there) and stay on until you start the engine.

At this point, it should stay on for another second or so and then disappear providing there are no problems.

As for being able to remove the bulb??? not sure. Best to get it Vag'd anyway.

Sorry mate.. just checking... maybe some years did it, some years dont or something... just want to be sure before I start pulling my dash apart...

I have VAG-COM'd... came up with a MAP sensor fault.. which was simply unplugged... plugged it in, no errors now.. but now CEL on startup either :(

Could I unplug something major to make the light come on?? (MAF for example? Would the defo make the light come on?)

Cheers,

Adam.

yep you can, and at least you'll know if theres a bulb in it or not (i suspect there is)

unplug the sensor on the intake manifold next to the throttle body and start the engine. this will cause a fault code and the light should turn on. light should go out after you replace the plug

This has been posted before, I have no CEL light either. The only way I can tell if there is a problem is by using my boost gauge, if it only allows 5psi then the car is in limp mode.

Pulsebassuk and I both have this, looks like you are the third. VAGCOM can check your instruments but I never got around to checking mine.

the light is there... I can just about make out the symbol... just doesnt lite up.

The garage I took it to say it should defo come on when you start the car... (I might phone SEAT in the morning to make usre).

BTW... mine has the P and a 12v socket in the boot (going back to the earlier thread).

How can I test it with VAG COM?? Can I do it with the shareware version?

Cheers,

Adam.

Update...

Phoned seat and they where next to useless.. told me to check the bulb.. but didnt know if it should come on or not anyway.

VAg-Com'd again... the only fault was the air-temp sensor (which was Acid told me to unplug.. so I know it's running right / no faults...)

I want my lite to come on when it has a fault.. it's stupid if they dont...

mines at a garage now having a check up.. and they are also going to find out why the light isnt coming on... or even if it should.

Cheers,

Adam.
