Hi

Anyone any expereince of celtic tuning and in particular their emotion map switch thingy?

i have a 2005 Lein FR pd150 and like the idea of being able to switch between an economy map and a per formance one asd well as the original.

From reading their manual its not possible to switch on the fly as it were and is a bit of a faff (10 minutes) to swap from one map to another.

Are there better solutions for what im looking for?

any info much appreciated

Cheers

Dave

My brother in law got his 2007 Leon 1.9 mapped buy these guys. They send you the little device, you plug it in, it reads your map, email it to them and they send you the modified one. He had a bit of trouble getting the new one on and asked for his money back, so they sent out an engineer to do it (all the way from Celtic to Newcastle) and the results were sweet! Much more punch and great MPG.

To be honest I'd want it to be mapped by (or have somewhere locally) they could stick in on a rolling road after it was done to see what it was doing....

Where are you from?

I had mine mapped by them, it produced 191bhp on the rollers at awesome gti :) :)
only 15 short of their claimed increase but hey who's counting ;)

Hi, I got my LC 150pd remapped by these guys. Not got the switch but to be honest with you you'll probably never put it into the eco setting once you've tried the full remap. I've not had it tested on a rolling road as yet but it now gives the traction control hell and am very happy I did it.

The extra torque did highlight that my clutch was worn and caused it to slip, so be aware that you may need to replace it, but I got a straight replacement for the standard clutch and its coping fine with the extra power & torque.

They certainly have quite bold claims on their website. Wonder how sympathetic to components their maps are. Anyone with long term experience?

Hey guys
I had my golf done by Celtic April last year. Bought their eMotion thingy after considering all the other options. Downloaded my engine map, emailed it off & 4hrs later had the re-map back in another email. Had very few issues, although my ancient Laptop did need a few updates before it would recognize the eMotion Unit.
I call the fella from CT & while on the phone to him, he took control of my laptop via a program on the internet, found what was causing the issue, fixed it & all was well!

Now my golfs kicking out 208bhp & a silly 338lb/ft of torque confirmed. Its useless in the wet with FWD but is so much more relaxed & responsive on the road.

The shorts of it, go get it! Its painless to do & the remap or de-map at your leisure takes no more than 15-20mins. Plus, if a dealer ever re-flashes your cars map during service, its only 15-20mins till your back up & running your tuned map.

Fantastic service, fast & easy.

Hope that helps

Over 200bhp is not possible on a standard GT1749VB turbo (PD150) aslong as your happy with it is all that matters

You may be right, but I never built the rolling road so couldn't tell you if it was calibrated correctly .

I have no idea what turbo my cars got, its not a Mk4 150 PD though (nearly bought one in 04!!). I have a 56 Mk5 pumpe-düse GT TDi 170.
On the standard VW map it ran 178.4bhp & 259lb/ft, with the re-map loaded, it did the 208bhp & 338.4lb/ft.

I think I must have been one of the lucky ones with an engine at the top end of the 5% margin VW allow.

I'll agree that tuners such as AMD quote around 196bhp with a remap, Celtic were one of a few (& they are out there) that offered that tiny bit more. They said somewhere between 202 & 212 was poss, all down to the engine of course.

If what you say is true & I'm not doubting your knowledge, I'll have it re-run on a diff Rollin Road just to confirm it.

I'm still happy with it when I run it though, but lately, its running standard. I've driven it once in 2 weeks, the wife takes it to work every day. Too short a journey for it so even running standard, the DPF is causing nightmares.

The DPF is getting canned as a soon as I can afford it.

Ta for the post though, you've got me thinking I need a re-run!

Cheers
