Central locking failing on rear doors

Hi all. In recent months the central locking on my 02 Leon has been intermittent in locking /unlocking rear doors and now the fob or the interior unlock button does not open the rear nearside door at all. When it used to fail in the past I would have to pull the handle internally to unlock the door and manually press it down. Now I can't even do that and to make matters worse the child lock is on on that door so it just seems permanently locked now.

Any ideas how this can be rectified and is this likely an expensive job? Thanks

You may be lucky enough for it to just open with a whack or two,otherwise u need to source another lock module remove the back seat on the side nearest the door,remove door panel,inner panel and break the lock module open to get the door open and change the lock.
