central locking fault??

Morning all! Happy new year!
Ok I have a problem with my central locking, sometimes when i press the remote key to lock the doors the indicators flash and the red light on the fob work, but nothing happens, the doors don't lock, if i then put the key in the door and turn it to lock it only locks the drivers door and not the others, if i leave it for a while then press the remote lock it works, but not all the time. Any ideas guys?

I have the same problem, main dealer claims its the receiving unit in the car and not the fob.

Heres the kick in the arse. They reckon a new unit, supplied and fitted, £394

jesus!!! Can a 2nd hand one be bought? or maybe one from a vw or audi from a scrapyard???

Do you have a clicking noise coming from underneath the dash in your drivers side too? I have and after i pulled half of the car apart it was a little black unit which i found out was the "comfort" ecu, if i pulled the wires from it the central locking stopped working so i presume that is the receiver they are talking about??
