Central locking help required. IBIZA GTI CUPRA SPORT 1998--
The car has a Clifford alarm and imob on it the central locking only works using the fob and the key to lock the car but not to open it anyone got any ideas to fix this . I found the pump in the boot it seems to be working but still making a noise for around a Min after the car is locke

if the pump is still going it's either being fed current by the clifford (is it recent + setup wrong ?) or there is a leak in the system on one of the pipes

usual suspects are the fuel flap - red ? + tailgate solenoid blue ?

ill try and find the thread to confirm teh colours

Exactly my problem, vacuum goes for at least a minute when i unlock the car, checked the actualy pump, cant see anything wrong with that, tried to check the pipes but don't really know what i am looking at.

if it only locks the car with the central locking... open all the locks on the car manually, and see if the central locking locks everything... if theres something that doesnt lock, you know theres a leak at that point...
The pump will carry on trying to lock it until its actually locked, or until evidently a minute or so has passed

Thanks iv checked the doors manually and the doors open and close using the passenger door but not the drivers, also it locks its self while im driving and it wont unlock unless I remove and replace the fuse in the fuse box.

Fellow Mk2 owners, I need your assistance! The green tdi beast has struck again!

This time the central locking refuses to open the boot and neither key will even turn in the lock, let alone open it. Everything else opens and the pump is still making the right noises.

I've read some threads about getting to the vacuum pump in the rear 1/4 panel which is fine but my problem is, how do I get into the darn boot?

I've tried crawling in via the back seats but it's pitch black as the parcel shelf won't come off. (Faintly worried I may be too old for that crap too!) With torch in hand I couldn't see much of use anyway.

Is there a way of undoing the boot from the inside?

I couldn't see any obvious release mech.

You lot haven't let me down yet. At 130,000 miles it gets more and more tempting to scrap her but I know someone out there will have felt like beating their MK2 for this issue.

All help gratefully received........meanwhile I'm off to contemplate beating a TDI with a mallet [:@]

lift up rear seat lowers - then pull pins on seat tops and fold seat backs down

pump is in drivers rear 1/4 but to be honest if the boot has been manually 'locked' then the vacuum locking won't undo it

you need to rip off the boot trim and get into the tailgate to pull the rod for the catch

my key is always a bitch with the boot - button needs to be out fully and just turn gently - press or push on it in any way and it's a real hag

Fl@pper you're a star! Thanks for the advice. I managed to prise off the boot lid cover and there was the catch, boot open! Hurrah!!

Now to work out what's wrong.

Air system seemed fine, actuator arm was moving, oh wait I see it. Arm had come out of the smallest piece of plastic on the lock mechanism. Reunited them, zip tied together (had no duck tape to hand) and now it runs like clockwork.

Even adjusted the lock striker so the boot now shuts without a slam.

Result!

Thanks for the advice.
