Central locking problem!!

Yet another proble with a Leons central locking. I've changed the battery in the key fob and taken connections of battery but still no joy. The key will remotely open all doors bar the passenger door but when inside the car you can lock all doors with the buttons on drivers door.
Does this mean the problem is solely with the key, and if so, what proce would it be to replace?

No, sounds a problem with the convenience module, possibly?

does the convenience module take the signal from the key and send it to the doors in order for them to open? if this is correct are they fixable or do you just get a new one? What cost are they?
