The centre console in my car seems to have developed a problem today. The switch for locking and opening my doors is no longer working and my electric wing mirrors no longer adjust.

The traction control button which is also on the centre console seems to still be working though. The central locking is very annoying as my doors lock automatically when I start to move so if I'm picking anyone up I have to use the keyfob to unlock but have to take the key out first

Fuses will be tested tomorrow, just thought it unusual that two different things went at exactly the same time

Been told disconnecting the battery and joining the battery cables together for 10 minutes could reset the control unit and sort this.

Anyone have any opinions on this.

Yes common thing to do disconnect both terminals and put the leads together for 10 seconds not minutes
This drains all the ecu capacitors and is a full reset.
Worth a try mate

Won't affect your map the worst it could do is if you are running a Revo map you may need to adjust your settings back from default.
Any other remap will be fine.

Does your interior light work normally when you open both of the front doors? I'm thinking that maybe it thinks one of the doors is open?

Another swing and a miss. Disconnected the battery and crossed the wires. Still the same issue, any more ideas?

Have you checked to make sure one of the plugs hasn't come off the underside?
Do they illuminate when you turn on the lights at night?

Pretty sure the mirrors and the locking both run through the control units in the front doors although its strange the locking still works from the remote.
Does your mirrors fold from the remote?
If everything works fine from the remote then that puts you back to the wiring at the switches themselves
