Hi there everyone, am i right in thinking that some aftermarket exhaust systems like scorpion come with two options, one with a centre silencer and one without? I know that removing the centre silencer will increase the noise and slightly improve flow but my question is could this be done with the standard exhaust system on the cupra to increase noise slightly?
I know back pressure is important but i wouldnt have thought much would be lost by just removing the centre silencer and replacing it with a straight pipe. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this before on any type of car and if it did make a difference.
Now i know most people will just say buy one but as it will cost me nothing to do this at work , i was thinking about doing it to increase the noise slightly until i save up and get a jetex or milltek.

Any comments welcome and your opinions on if it will make a difference please.

Cheers Craig.

should work OK i wouldn't worry about loosing back pressure as there is to much anyway in the standard system.
it wont give you any noticeable power gains but should make it louder

Yeh thats all i was wanting at the mo it a little bit louder really, im off on holiday an need the cash and this was a simple idea i had for the time being. Might try it and see how it is, need to find a mk3 standard centre section to chop up n weld now just incase i need it standard again.

I done this on my mk2 valver as a cheap alternative, ended up paying out for the silencer in the end as it was just to loud. This was with a powerflow cat back though.

Mines removed and all is well :) Not loud at all. Infact its the same noise as a mate of mines who has the same setup but has the silencer in place. No trouble at any MOT's either.
