I'm going to change my bulb over to some Philips Blue Vision tomorrow. Are the dipped and side lights easy to do?? I have noticed that the Philips bulb has a cut out bit, is there a cut out bit on the reflector plate so you know the bulb is correctly fitted?

If it is a H4 bulb then yes there should be a cut out on it (and all H4s) so you can fit it properly. (I changed the bulbs on my wifes Citroen C3 last week (H4s) and both the old and new Philips blue vision had the cut out.)

Yep the leon dips are H7 and IIRC the mains are H1.

Looking under the bonnet the dips look straight forward, but the mains look like you will need very small hands that bend the wrong way:doh:

It is a H7 bulb. I have tried it this evening in the garage and must of done something wrong as the light shining right in front of the car only lighting up 8-10mtr, went out on the roads and was like driving with a bulb out. Im not sure if i got the cut out bit right though, so maybe it wasn't sat in the prism thing level

Does the bulb push in then twist or just sit in the socket? Mine didnt seem to be held in other than by the metal clasp. Should they be fitted snug prior to the metal clasp holding it?

I've changed them on my wifes C3 and my Mini (H7s) and both just sit there losely until the metal clasp holds them firmly in place. There is no twisting or clicking into position.

The H7's have one flat edge to the ring around the base of the bulb, this sits in a cut out in the holder. It does sound like you have the bulb sat wrong.

remove the connector 1st, bulbs are held in with the usual small v-type bar push in then to the side and the bar comes folds down, bulb will pull out .
H1 are the same bit of a tight fit but i did both H7 & H1 no problem.

I have made sure the bulb cut out is sat on the reflector cut and that the bulb is secure but still the beam seems to be to much on the floor. My headlight adjuster is a far up as possible. When i drove up to the garage door i can see 2 fairly solid lights but still some beams of light spread all over?!?! Do the need to be professionally aligned or shall i put the originals back in?

i had to take my car back to the dealer as my headlights were out of alignment, much better now, after it i took the wifes pug in to the pug dealer as i had suspicions over its h/l too they were out to, i dont think the dealers bother when the get them in.

Can anyone tell me if the the bit that sticks out on the H7 bulbs is meant to be fitted facing up or down? I thought they were meant to be pointing down, but I have just been to change the bulbs and the Seat dealer alighned them for me a while back and now I find the flap pointing up!

So which is the correct way, up or down?
