I recently purchased the Forge silicon hose kit for the coolant system as my pipes are pretty much crumbling.

I know I need to 'Flush' the system and replace the lost coolant but not sure how to go about this exactly, searched youtube for some videos and they are to general for my liking.

Just after a few tips and maybe a small guide on what I should be doing, I've had a search and not found much information.

Cheers guys :D

(Also plan to do the SAI removal as heard that the coolant pipe has to come off anyway to remove the SAI)

I wouldnt do it exactly as it says in that guide pal. the reason for this is that flushing from the fill spout will also flush the engine which SEAT reccomend you dont do (not sure why).

I would take off the radiator bottom hose and drain, then the radiator top hose and drain, all the coolant in both engine and radiator should now be drained.

Then put the hosepipe into where the radiator top hose connected to and flush until the water runs clear.

Then refit hoses and refill :)

Thanks mate :D

Just out of interest I saw you recently flushed your system, what coolant did you use to replace?

Does it need flushing?

I'd just top it up with some new g12 and some water depending on the required mix.

Not heard about taking the coolant pipes off to remove the SAI either.

Im replacing all the pipes so just though would flush it for peace of mind.

Im sure I read somewhere to get the that silver tingy with the gold top off you have to unclip a coolant hose? or is that another bit of clutter you can remove, EVAP or something?

Remember to get all the air out of the system mate or you will end up with head gasket problems. I know some garages are using pressure fillers for coolant changes this forces any trapped air to the highest point (normally header tank). I just leave the header tank cap off after I have filled the system then squeeze the coolant pipes top up the coolant again (if needed) start the engine squeeze the pipes until the cooling fan comes on adding coolant as you go replace the header tank cap go out for a drive checking the heater blows hot air out, then check the level again job done! Also I always like to pre mix the antifreeze and water in a container first to insure the proper 50/50 mix. Hope this helps

You have to temporarily remove one coolant pipe to get the EGR valve off.
