On the hunt for a new clutch kit, I stumbled across a Sachs clutch kit with dual mass flywheel for the bargain price of £309.99.

Going on past experiences with the seller Techniclutch, I am wondering if it is too good to be true?! Has anyone bought the clutch in question? If you type Cupra R Sachs into eBay, it should come up.

Anyone on here done a single mass conv?
I'm intrested to see what they're like, and any prob's since. as generally fitting a single mass doesn't preent the vibrations from damaging the crank d/shafts etc. suppose it wouldn't be a prob so much in a petrol but I'd be wary with a densil!

sachs are good clutches and some luk clutch kits have sachs in them (plates).
best advice is don't scimp on a clutch and be wary of re-pro's in luk boxes. (usually a white box with an luk sticker on it)

The only thing I've ever heard of is a bit of rattle at idle and that's on tdi cars but a heavier flywheel helps with that.

There's no SMF kit on there for an LCR.

Sorry my bad, I keep forgeting he's mainly a tdi guy, I'll give him a shout though and just double check because I think they share some of the clutches. I mean the VR6 and G60 flywheel are originally from a petrol but are used on the tdi a lot. Anyway I'll see what he says or you could check the part numbers if possible.

if he is stock, why not go for OEM stock clutch and flywheel, he dos not say anything about performance uprated or tuning in #0.

you can get stock dual mass flywheel and clutch kit cheap from euro car parts. (use promocode: CLUTCH15)

go to euro car parts,i work in one of the branches and from us they are really cheap. you can buy a module kit and buy the csc seperate.

whatever clutch you get make sure you hae a desent warranty with it.

Jabbasport also do a lightened and balanced SMF with Sachs clutch for slightly less. I've just had my clutch replaced but decided to stay with the DMF/LUK clutch and fit a Quaife diff instead. I would highly recommend that if anyone is replacing there clutch to have an LSD fitted. Having the diff done at the same time as the clutch means you pay little if any extra in labour. The differance in grip is amazing.

im just in the middle of replacing mine for a smf valeo, all in cost of £245 from local garage will give you feed back after a drive

finished the job and took it for a drive...wow! so much more responsive and the clutch pedal is lighter too!

What is best to fit to a stage 1 LCR? Own is a dual mass flywheel - can we just not upgrade that and keep it as a dmf? Or is going to a singleass flywheel really the best option? Both price and performance please....

Going to add another query here. Is there a cost-effective up-rated clutch for my Leon FR TDI?

Standard clutch is slipping now the car's been consveratively remapped to 300lbft torque, despite several mapping companies claiming the standard clutch is OK at that level. I can't stomach the cost of a Sachs SRE replacement at around £600 in parts alone, when labour will add £300-odd to that...

Has anyone tried Black Diamond Stage1/2 clutches on a diesel??
