If the safelock (deadlock) is set it's impossible for anyone left in the car to open the door and get out after you have locked up. It's just a warning in case there is anyone left inside.
If you don't like that you can press the plipper twice in rapid succession when you lock up. That will disable the deadlock.
No, safellock and deadlock mean the same thing. In fact some of the VAG cars say "check deadlock" or similar. Deadlock always means that the doors lock so that you can't open it from the inside.
