Checked oil level and not even a drop!

Checked my oil level tonight on my cupra and it didnt even show on the dipstick it was that low. Ive had no warning lights or anything though. The car runs fine, just been a bit rattly in the mornings recently which is what made me check it. Hopefully ive done no damage to engine or turbo. Just cant believe no oil level warning light came on. Is it worth taking it to SEAT or should i wait a bit a and see how it goes?

Those twin charge engines love oil. They drink it like mad. Lots of people with new engines under warranty because of high oil consumption.

On the plus side, the difference between max and min on the dipstick is 1liter (I think) and the engine oil capacity is 4liters (I think)

this^ just cause there is none on the dipstick doesn't mean it is all gone, after all to fall off the dipstick means it is just bellow minimum. not all bad but top it up asap.

Its still under warranty yeah. Gonna see how it goes this week and if its still drinking it, back to the dealership i go. Do they provide courtesy car whilst its beeing fixings as i cant be without transport?

Yes, as long as you are over 25 and you give them enough notice with the booking.

Boll*cks , im 23. Anyone know how long it would take them. Also i take it im best to remove the forge spacer valve off before i take it in.

Im 22 and have had courtesy cars since I was19. Get seat to do the oil consumption test for you.

Any dealer can do warranty work. If you don't like what they say, try another one. They get paid for the warranty work by the manufacturer, so don't think of it as them doing stuff for you for free.

If you complain enough, they will give you a courtesy car and, if you get a receipt off your insurer, they will refund what it costs to cover that car whilst you have it.

however they do not get paid the same hourly rate as a customer pays, we pay say 80 an hour warranty will pay them 20. so if they have a lot of work in from private customers then they wont be so inclined to take the warranty

i'm going to visit the dealer when i get home, see what they can do about my oil consumption. i'd advise removing the forge spacer just to be sure, i'll be doing it for piece of mind.

I spoke to a seat dealer about my engine problems last year. They said they only get certain amount of hours to do the job from seat UK. For replacing the piston rings they get 10 hours or so from seat UK, but it took them 30 hours to do the job, so the garage has to pay the rest. That's why you might find some garages trying to say its normal for the car to drink oil as they don't want to fix a car which will cost them money.

its 21 mate, and if your younger you get the car but you sort insurance out

Regarding the insurance/courtesy car I'd say it depends on dealership/franchise. Ive personally not had any issues @ 2 ford dealers and this Seat one.

Just gave it some stick on thw home from work and its not lost a drop now. Think it might of just needed topping up. Gonna keep an eye on but hopefully its not as bad as first thought. Is Magnetec 10/40 ideal for the cupras?
