Afternoon all, another LCR in the Plymouth area!

I've been on the forum for a while, just I never really got round to posting things whilst owning my previous vehicles. So, new year new me bla bla bla.

Please do excuse the state of it, it has been a busy week for me but I can assure you the next post with pictures in, it will be gleaming!

So, earlier this week I purchased myself a Cupra R, possibly the best idea I have had all my life! The car itself has been in the area I live for around 7/8 years now, I kept an eye on it for a while as I set eyes on it and I wanted it, then as news travels so fast nowadays, I was informed matey was selling it and voila, purchase made.

The plate on it now isn't the original, it started off in life as MW03 ETE, then had 2 different private registrations on it before my ownership where I have been allocated (in my eyes) a pretty naff plate.

So, the car itself, as it stands at the moment I have done nothing to it, except for rinsed what can only be described as a naughty amount of fuel! Oh, and put a set of tyres on (I hope they last!) It's got a STUPID Clifford alarm, which was great fun on the first day or so as the images have rubbed off of the buttons so I had no idea what was what.

If anyone knows where to get replacement buttons please do let me know!

So, onto the exciting parts, I have a tonne of paperwork for all the parts purchased and mapping which was done at AMD, it is a stage 2 with approximately 280BHP (when the work was first done) but for anyone that knows the Plymouth area well I will be popping into AK Motors to have it rollered in the very near future! I will list all of the parts/specification at a later date, just want to get myself known first of all before I spill the beans and see who is interested.

It does have an interior mod, some S3 seats, not a terrible thing although the airbag light is permanently on so when it comes to MOT time I guess I will have to refit the original seats (unless anyone knows a bypass method then please do fill me in).

And so there we go, nothing massively exciting but its a pleasure for me to do this! More bits to follow :p

That last photo really reinforces how badly I need to realign my exhaust!

Clifford remote fob seems easy enough to pick up either direct from a dealer or through eBay. Not looked into getting it synced with the car though so make sure to check what's involved before you do anything!

Looking forward to photos mate. I am also in Plymouth with a stage 2 lcr. I am looking forward to hearing what you achieve on ak's rollers. Will be following your thread mate. Enjoy the car bud.

is yours black as well by any chance? with a private plate? long shot :p. yeah I hope to get the photos up as soon as the forum updates itself :)

Ah was only a guess, saw a black one yesterday evening in Sainsburys and he gave me a wave :), quite a lot mate haha! Off the top of my head, stage 2 AMD map, 3" tip, JR Cone Filter, all forge hoses, FMIC, Miltek catback (sports cat) and a forge 007p dump valve. We should all have a meet soon!

I'm the odd one out because mine is red. Car looks nice mate. Have the wheels been done a different colour. I had mine refurbished in a bright silver.

thanks bud! yeah they were done Gunmetal Grey with the previous previous owner (2 before me), but sadly they are in a horrific state hence why there is no close ups of them yet haha! I aim to get them refurbished in the very near future, just trying to find a company local and that doesn't want an arm and a leg!

Lloyds refinishers mate. They done my wheels and front end. They are up near the ski slope bud. Done a great job. Whatever you do dont go la bodyworks. They tried twice to spray my front end and it was crap both times so I took it to lloyds mate. Happy now with it.

LA Bodyworks did a great job on my old Golf when Tesco decided to park one of their vans in the front of it :p

Maybe they didnt like me lol. Dont want to slate anyone but they had my car for weeks in total and it didnt get close to matching the original colour. Seems to me that us plymouth boys need to meet up to compare cars.

ive heard LA aren't all that good so maybe you had them on a good day Luke :p haha, yes we should certainly do it!

But, onwards, past few days I have had an ongoing issue as to where my boost seems to be unsettled, my dumpvalve has gone from making its usual psht/hiss noise and now makes a metallic "ting" noise, so perhaps its a new DV time? Anyone know what colour spring I would need? stage 2 and approx. 280bhp, i'd say yellow?

Also, when cruising in 6th, is used to make a lovely bit of induction sucking noise, that has now gone and it whistles slightly, but as the revs get higher the whistle becomes more high pitched, this is sadly starting to annoy me.

Perhaps I did! Really can't fault them from my own experience though. More than willing to help any way they can, did a perfect job of the car and were really pleasant to deal with throughout. Perhaps it was just a fluke though, if other people haven't had the same success?

Yellow would be about right, yeah. Symptoms definitely point to a boost leak somewhere - with the change in DV noise it'll definitely be worth double checking that's healthy (welcome to use mine to check) though could be elsewhere - did you get all split hoses replaced the other day or just the main culprits?

After doing the smoke test there was only one split pipe, that was replaced and voila, all good, another test was performed and there was no other leaks. It does have a lot more power now but something still doesn't feel right, although it is a vast improvement.

Its a very strange car, sometimes it gets to temperature and is fine, other days it doesn't move from 60 degrees but still goes well, the joys!
