Cigarette Lighter Stuck

So today I was playing around with the bits in my LCR (only got it 2 weeks ago) and for some dumb reason decided to push the cigarette lighter in (even though I don't smoke!). To cut a long story short it has just stayed in and has not popped back out yet. It tried turning off the transmision and restarting, have driven a 30 minute commute but it just won't budge.

Do you just reckon I should just force it out or take it to a dealer (just out of warranty sadly). I don't want to damage the socket as I'm getting sat nav for Xmas and want to be able to run it off the lighter socket.

Any advice much appreciated. (Oh and I tried a search but couldn't find anything!)

Can you not pull it out? Or have you physically pushed the entire item in too far?

maybe a bent paper clip or metal coat hanger could be used to prise it out ???

I've tried pulling it out with my fingernails but it won't budge, I guess it's jammed. Mabe I should just set my screwdriver lose on it?

Just popped it out with a chisel, without causing any damage. Mind you the end wasn't hot so maybe that's something else I need to fix!! Cheers for the replies.

I have no cigarette lighter as the owner/dumbass before decided to fit a variable boost controller inside the ashtray and then relised the cigarette lighter didn't then refit into it's holder!!

Well at least no one will be able to smoke in your car. Always a silver lining.....

They are actually quite simple things to wire up, so if you wanted to fit one or replace one, it's not a huge job. Don't think they cost a great deal either.

My lighter has been removed, so I can put the Touareg torch in it's place

I had the same problem as you, lighter was pushed in and i had to prise is back out with a plastic card. Unfortunately as it didnt pop it aint working. Also for sat nav and i have to use rechargeable batteries. Have to get it sorted.

check your fuses, as mine done the same

Yup had that, I used a small screwdriver to pop it out. Happened with fuse went for the cigarette adapter.
