Hi all,

I picked up a Speed Blue Cupra a little before Christmas but the continual snow and ice since then means I've not had chance to take her out much yet. Love it so far though from pootling about! :funk:

Anyway, it's got the 18" Pavonis black alloys, and wanted a bit of advice from fellow factory black alloy owners. How do you guys clean them? On previous cars with alloys, I've used one of those wheel cleaner kits you get with the mild acid to get rid of the brake dust. I'm a bit concerned that this might eat into whatever the material is that makes the alloys black to start with. Has anyone got any experience or tips as to what they use?

Thanks

I,ve got the same wheels and would not use any of the acid based cleaners on them.
What I have always done is always use a Wheel wax/seal and make sure you give the wheels a good wash every week. That way you should never need to use a cleaner.

Treat them the same as you would bodywork, good wax and something like Poorboys sealant. I tried Supagard on my BMW alloys and that worked a treat with the ocasional wax kept the brake dust at bay and made them easy to clean.

Agree with Aaron. The good thing with Bilberry is you can dilute it so you can start weak and check the results. If used strong, I believe it will remove wheel wax after a number of washes.

As well as the Chemical Guys Wheel Gaurd which I use on the wheel face, a product called Opti seal from Detailed Obsession is a sealant which some detailers use on the inner parts of the wheel and brake caliper.
