Is there a way of cleaning the inside of the engine bay without getting too much water ingress in the components there?

I spent a bout 3 hours cleaning my car yesterday and the only bit that is now dirty is the engine bay. I considered getting the pressure washer on it, but didn't think it was a great idea.

I know you can get the engine bays steam cleaned but don't want to pay £30ish for the priviledge when i can possible do it myself.

Use a water based degreaser, something like BH Surfex HD highly recommended , this will breakdown the dirt and grease.

Aggitate stubborn bits with some brushes. You can then use a gentle trickle from a hose to wash it all away.

Don't get the water on the sensitive parts, just use a damp microfibre cloth to get around these.

Dry it all off with some old microfibre cloths and then run the engine for a while to dry it all out.

That's how I do it anyway.
