Clicking nose from glove box when in reverse?

Hey guys,

Trying to find some information for my little sister. She has a Seat Ibiza 1.2 petrol 62plate.

When she is in reverse hear car (from the glove box it seems) makes a clicking / thudding noise (see video link) any ideas?

I'd think that its just the cabin air recirulating flap motor going/gone mad due to its linkage being broken or its positional feedback potentiometer having a dirty track so not giving good positional feedback to its controller when the recirc function is being switched on when in reverse, which is done to avoid exhaust fumes being dragged into the cabin via the rear mounted openings.

To prove this is where the noise is coming from, ask her to leave the car in neutral and press the recirc switch and it should make the same noises.

Hey Rum, hope you have been keeping well. Thanks for this, i have had her test this and yes it makes the noise in in netural and when air recirc button is on. In regards to a fix is it a matter of seeing behind the glove box and seeing what is causing the noise? Or is it a.common problem that is simply replace the x y z part??

I have never needed to do this job on a Polo/Ibiza but I think that you need to remove the glove box and passenger side airbag.

Maybe search on this forum or similar aged Fabia forum or just try Google.

Hi just wondering if you got to the bottom of the issue? I’m having the same problem. Clicking in reverse/ recirc button pressed.
Looked into glove box and the plastic cogs teeth at the very end have broken, causing it to click as not getting full rotation. Can I buy this specific part ?

You can buy a new recirculation flap motor, the issue seems to be it is a dash out job, alot of work for little gain.

I'm just trying to inject some optimism into this, I know that it is a "dash out" with some VW Group cars, like my old/previous 2000 VW Passat 4Motion, but I thought/hoped that that was not necessary with these cars - or am I wrong, I've not needed to find out - yet!

Well tbh I can't remember who told me it was a dash out job, I know it was in the forum but that was some time ago, when I was told that I told my sister to put up with it as I wasn't doing that level of work but never properly looked myself.
