Climate control fan speed on auto ?

I have the climate control set to 18c my side and 19c on passenger side and I run AUTO. But my annoyance is that the fan speed is really high, as in very loud. Do other people have this problem ? Sometimes I have A/C on and sometimes I don't, but still the fan speed is high and noisy.

In my previous golf gtd I would have the same setup but I believe I could set the fan speed on AUTO (which doesnt seem possible on the 300) Am I missing something ? Whats the point of AUTO if it just has the fan running fast all the time ?

How do you run yours ? AUTO or set fan speed ?

I find it runs faster until the cabin gets to the required temp, then it slows down

Yeah thats how my GTD used to work, but I can be driving for 20 mins and the fan speed is still really fast. Could I have faulty sensors ? It seems to permanently run (in AUTO) at a fan speed of maybe 3 or 4

18 and 19 are quite low temps IMO, it's having to work harder to get down to those temps?

when I'm on auto i'm usually set at 21 or 22

Have you tired having the temp sync'd and seeing if it settles then?
Tried that, made no difference.

Turned up to 22. :help: I was sweating!! It just seemed to keep going, blasting out on the windscreen as though it would never get to that temperature, had to turn it back down to 19 for fear of melting haha, then the fan did seem to slow down a bit. I just thought it would work the same as my GTD.

18 and 19 are low for the summer, but this time of year I would think very easy to achieve that low of a temp ? Surely the fan would barely run (once engine is up to temp) if its -1c outside and I want 19c in the car ?

You adjust the "normal" speed of the auto fan speed in the settings option. Perhaps yours is set to 3/highest? I have mine set to 2 and can't hear it when driving.

I can’t have the climate control on different settings as I have OCD.

Must be on the same number and also the radio must be on an even number for volume.

Yes I am ill....:D

This. Or the temperature controller is fudged

This is what I did in my gtd but can't figure it out on the cupra. I'll look again this afternoon. But I thought when I changed the speed in settings it took it out of auto?

Auto climate has a default fan speed, 1,2 or 3 which is used when climate control is maintaining set temps. If both sides are set to different tempsthen maybe the system is having to work harder to compensate for the differing temps required. Is it as noisy when temps identical?

Can you set the speed yourself to 1,2or3? I can't find the setting for this  In the Gtd it had 3 settings, a feather, a leaf and something else I think.

This is doing my head in now! I've found this info in the manual saying I can choose speed in auto, but I can't find it on the bloody menu[:@] if I go to SETUP it shows the cabin with temps and where the air is coming from, SETTINGS only gives me option to turn on/off recirculation. I can't find anywhere to change fan speed in auto.

It did seem a little quieter on the way home just now with both set at same temp.

Sounds completely different to mine

I was out in the car earlier, auto set at 21. Outside temp = 0. Changing between 19 and 24 I could instantly feel the temp of the air coming out the vents changing.

Ive done the vcds mod to show the fan speed when in auto and mine never went above 4. It would settle at 2 or 3.

You say yours blasts at the screen? When in auto the air comes out the centre vents on mine.
