I am convinced I have a problem with my climate control.
I understand how the auto settings work but when using the manual settings I experience some fluctuation in fan speed. In summary, say I've set the temperature to 25deg and have the fan on speed one[bar]/lowest speed and adjust it to say 21deg I sometimes find the fan setting shooting up to say 6 [bars] :confused: .
If I was using the auto setting I would expect the fan to fluctuate to acheive the desired temperature, but surely not in the manual setting :dunno: .
My main dealer is telling me that this is normal.
Can you guys confirm whether your LCR's do this or not or you've experienced similar problems :help:

I had an issue with my heating recently, kept randomly puffing out cold, even though it was set to AUTO 25degrees...

Seat dealer replaced the Temp sensor & it seems to be fixed.
 
Mine does this, changing fan speed.

I find that if I set the temp and fan speed and the actual car temp is different to the temp I've set, the unit cranks up the fan speed forcing me to turn it down again. However, once I've turned the speed down again, it doesn't happen again until I change the temperature.

It may be something to do with adjusting the cabin temp to that set by yourself regardless of the fan speed you've set?
 
Say you`ve got it set to 25deg, with one `bar` on the display.
When you turn down to 21deg, the sensor will pump out cooler air at a higher rate to cool the cabin to the required temperature.
Simple, no ???

Not simple at all.

In my opinion manual is manual auto is auto..... simple, no? :rolleyes:

The whole point of having "auto" mode is that you can set it to the desired temp and let the CC do the rest. In "manual" you set the fan speed and you set the temperature surely, manually?
This looks like a Saayat quirk, which can be placed with the "loss of power when starting in freezing conditions" syndrome that never gets answered properly.....any other solutions out there?
 
Unfortunately there's nowt you can do.

As already described - fan speed will stay wherever until you adjust the temp setting.

Since this is "desired cabin temperature" as opposed to "expelled air temperature" the unit says "well you'll never get there with this flow-rate" and adjusts accordingly.

So it does remain partly auto even in manual mode. :yes:

You can of course select a new temp, and then turn the fan back down as already described...... slight inconvenience, but a workaround. How often do you change the temperature anyway? :dunno:

Out of interest....... can I ask why do you want to do this? :confused: I personally find 21-22 a comfy range regardless of the outside conditions and allow the system to get there in the most effective way possible.

Conversely my missus jumps in the car when it's cold and turns it up to 25deg. Then gets too hot and turns it down to 20deg. That's too cold so it's back up to 24deg etc etc etc :rolleyes: Me no get it :no:

edit: On reading my post the above question sounds a bit flippant. It's not intended to be - just genuinely unsure what you are trying to achieve? I used to like "warm feet, cool air to face" but Leon (and many previous cars) can't do this anyway.

From what i know it does this to change the cabins temp ASAP - eg yours is set at 25 deg on 1 bar fan speed. If you then change the temp to 20 deg, the fan speed increases to get the cabin to this temp as quickly as possible, then will (should) revert back to 1 bar fan speed.

I usually start my journey to work at 06:00. This morning the temperature was -6.5deg. I like to blast the temperature of the car up to the max and then reduce it down to about 22 gradually. It's in the transgression from high to low, at one bar fan speed, when the issue starts. I just like doing it this way :p
 
The whole idea of climate control is that the unit will do the work for you. That is why the Auto button is SO big and the other buttons (which will be used less as small)

Set the desired temperature and leave the CC unit to get to that temp.

My temperature is generally set to 21C and the unit on auto. And a cold day the heater comes on after the car warms up and the fan turns down automatically when the temperature is reached. The only time I adjust this is when the front screen needs demisting (which is very rarely so I kept my car in the garage)

Oh yes, its not just your missus. Similar with mine. Also wth thermastatic radiator controls. Other day the bathroom value was on full. I asked "Have you turned this up to full?". "Yes, it was cold" she said. :think:
 
Mine stays on Auto all the time and I adjust the temp only depending on how warm/cool I want it. I find 19-20 degrees to be perfect for me in the summer and 22-25 for the winter months.

Only issues I've had are when the aircon compressor switched off when it was too cold outside.. car got a little steamed up! Otherwise perfect.
 
I rekon fan should be on max or auto... If it's not on auto I want it blowing as fast as possible to clear windscreen or get to temp asap so it can go back to auto again...

I find it annoying that if i adjust the temp the fan doesn't got to max it only goes to about 1/2 way up and I have to use the + button to get it on full...

I guess this is exactly the opposite of what you want :D

Putting the fan on full will not maximise the temperature of the air entering the cabin. The air has to pass through the heater. If it is pushed too fast it will not get warm enough.

Also, if the temp is knocked up by a degree or two I would find it very annoying if the fan came on full. Firstly the noise, secondly the occupants would initially feel too hot as hot air is blasted at them, then when the air is hot enough the fan would turn to low and the occupants would free cold.

Personally I think the CC works well.
 
yeah auto works fine, i use it 99% of time on auto, when I change it its usually to clear the windscreen, and then its back on auto, so not too bothered how efficient it is I just want to see where I'm going so max fan seems to work for that :D

never had a problem with noise from the fan even on max I can't hardly hear it over the radio/cd.
 
Now giving the auto selection ago and just letting the climate control's fan do it's own thing - as that's what it was doing anyway ;).

The underlying reason for me having the fan on at all was because you get no air flow through the car if you 1] don't have the fan on or 2] don't have a window open. The Passat I had before seemed to give me air changes without the need for the fan to be on. Consequently I prefer to have the fan on at the lowest speed and at a temperature I want to try and conserve some energy/fuel by not having it on higher settings. This probably makes such a negligible difference that it's not worth doing, hence giving auto ago.

.....And LeoNine I posted this thread because I "don't know best" and appreciate opinions from others, "dealers wrong too" there are copious posts about dealer incompetence, with mine currently probably appearing in the top five hence my doubts over their statement.
