Right.... Going to get the Leon remapped soon but before then I want to upgrade the clutch....as shes done 100k and I don't think the clutch will last much longer as standard let alone with more poke.....

Have spoken to Allards to day and they said that just an upgraded friction disc with the standard cover plate would be able to handle the power and would be the most cost efficient upgrade at £185ish....but with my standard cover plate having done over 100k would i be better off

spending £400 on the full uprated kit??

buy a new standard cover plate to go with the uprated friction disc...??

or do i stick with the 100k cover plate and whack the new uprated friction disc in and keep my fingers crossed???

Anyone know how much a new standard cover plate and bearing is??

If your thinking of buying a new OEM cover/pressure plate you might as well do the job properly and get an uprated version. Just make sure you get the organic friction disc not the paddle cerametallic disc as it is more user friendly and cheaper.

I think it depends on the remap. If you a re going to go crazy then the full job will be required on the clutch. Personally I am going to get mine remapped to 180 and I have just had a new sachs clutch and flywheel which should handle the extra no problem and I paid £500 all in for the clutch and dmf fitted!

Yeah just thinking of the cost to be honest and whether the 120k cover plate with the upgraded friction disc would be upto the job and how long would it last?!?!

Replaced as the expected life of the dmf is as the life of the clutch and to be fair when it came off there was some play in, a bit more than there should be although it was not knackered

First i have ever heard anyone say that. Is this what you think or what the garage told you as i would love to know the logic behind that idea.

Just spoke to a very helpful bloke down at DSB Autocare. He thinks my clutch/flywheel sholud be fine with the extra power from a smooth remap.

He said glynn's clutch that came out was in pretty good shape for 100k usage.

My car has done 18k so I'm gonna take the risk and see how it goes. :headhurt:
