Well it started to slip all the time so its gone into the dealer for a new one. 10k standard 10k chipped 20k k03s and 25k IHI if i remember correctly and a total of 65k. It seems my 2001 Y reg Ayp Ibiza 20vt has the 225mm clutch from new where as some have the 220mm clutch. £410.00 supplied and fitted by the main dealer. Maybe mine lasted so long because i have the 225mm version. Its due for collection tomorrow.

Any reason why you didnt go for an uprated clutch like the vr6/g60 one?

A few reasons 25k with IHI on a clutch which had already done 40k is pretty impressive and even more so when 30k was at least chipped or even k03s. I doubt very much if an uprated one would have done any better. If the new one does 35k thats 6-7 years motoring for my car and i can get 2 stnd clutches fitted for the price of one uprated one. The stnd one has done me proud and considering its 225mm its not like i am going from a stnd 220mm Ibiza clutch to a 228mm g60 clutch i dont think the extra 3mm from 225mm to 228mm is really going to make much diff for me. Also a lot of the uprated ones i have seen have been inferior to the stock items in both quality and driving feel.

That pretty much answers my question. lol.

I've got a 2001 AYP Y reg ibiza, is there an easy way to check the clutch size?

I was told the only way was when it has been removed. My car is a May 2001 ayp so the clutch has been in five and a half years. If the next one does 3 years thats good enough for me.

P.S mine being a 225mm is prob why it has lasted so long.

Clutch fitted and car collected. It drove slowly for the 1st 125miles and never went on boost. I tried it in 4th from 2500rpm but it slipped so i left it until 175miles and tried again it slipped now and again and its now on 210 miles and everytime I try it never slips at all regardless of how many times i try to make it. My only concern is that reverse 1st 3rd and 5th are not as easy to select as before and dont just drop into gear like before. It may need some adjustment of some kind to allow easier selection. Anyone have any idea why it may be harder to select the gears mentioned. Its not really hard they just need an extra nudge forward to get it to stay in gear easier. Will it get better with time or does it need looking at?.
