Hi peeps, hope your night in is going well, popcorn film n females :) well mine ain't, I'm stuck at a petrol station atm, the problem is that when getting back in the motor my clutch pedel is stuck about an inch from the floor, I've popped into the garage n grabbed some WD and sprayed the pedel and the clutch cable bits n bobs in the engine bay with no effect! Also when lifting the pedel with my hand it just springs back to the floor!!! Any help would be great asap as this smell of fuels giving my a headache :(

OK, my first guess was completely wrong :) And you've not got low fluid. Running out of ideas now. Is there anything in the footwell that wasn't there before - a spring or bits of metal? I'm wondering if the over-center pedal spring has broken somehow.

You've mentioned clutch cable bits in the engine bay - are you sure you have a cable clutch? Most of us have hydraulic clutch action...

I've had a good look and I can't find a Leon with a cable clutch. That's not to say you haven't got one, just that I can't find it.

The only springs and cables under the hood that I've seen are to do with the bonnet release. It's a good idea to spray them with lubricant to keep them working - every so often there are posts on here from guys who can't get their bonnets to open because the release has jammed. Lubricate it at every service interval with a spray oil or even just 3-in-one from a can - but not WD-40, which is good for chasing water away and releasing rusted fastenings, but is will dry up and go sticky - always flush out WD-40 with a proper lubricant if you free up a control system with it.

ill take a piccy tomoz morning n show all the springs n cables.

I had the same issue an inch from the floor! Could not change gear switch the engine off! However, I could pull the clutch pedal back. After looking to see if there had been any thing obstructing the pedal I found this see picture!

This was stuck between the top where the hinge/spring was near the top of the metal shaft. Will test out the car tomorrow on route back to work but had a quick drive around the block and it all seemed fine. Lets hope that this was the issue.

Hope this helps

I've seen a duel mass flywheel do that on a vw passat it was a very strange fault to find as it all worked fine and every now and then the pedal would stay near the floor.
