Cupra 200bhp

Full Member
Hi, i picked my "new" ibiza cupra (X reg) up on Sunday. I have had trouble getting it into Reverse it always crunches and find it difficult to get into 1st gear when stopped sometimes. The clutch is pretty stiff and when pressed down fully the bite is only a couple of cm's from the floor!! Once the car is actually driving it goes it to gear without any problems. Can the clutches be adjusted on the ibiza? Im hoping they can, or could it be something else :-o

Theyre just **** boxes, mine always crunches into reverse and 1st is a little sticky sometimes.

May need a new clutch mate or indeed to get it adjusted!

My old golf used to crunch going into reverse, you just need to be careful with it lol

Yeah i have tried being carefull with it! That doesnt work lol

Going to get it in for its 60k service and get the gearbox oil changed and get clutch adjusted (If possible) and hopefully that sorts it. If not how much for new clutch? Would probably just get a helix one

nope just fitment of a new clutch and associated gubbins, cant remember exactly what the invoice said but as i say i didnt pay it so im not bothered lol

you probably need a new clutch slave cylinder and also change the gearbox oil this should make it smoother did the trick on mine

I had the same problem when my clutch pedal broke! I had it welded in the car but it sat lower then my brake pedal ,Plus my biting point was a lot lower!! , It wasn't that low or that height before it broke.

So i bought a new Leveling spring (i think its called), which relevels the pedal after being pressed.

This has cured the problem :funk: Nice and smooth and my biting point is about half way now, where it used to be [B)]

cheers

yep agree with some of the comments above, rod may of come loose from the white clip inside the welded box on the side of the clutch pedal, mine did this after the weld broke and i didnt realise it cliped in as apposed to just sitting and locating in it, gradually dropped out and caused the same syptoms your having
