Clutch Slipping on my Revo'ed Cupra TDi

My original clutch slipped without remap (cold weather, 2K revs, incline and floor it). Now had a warranty fitted and sweet (although not experienced cold weather yet).

But its this weakness that puts me off a remap. I know you can adjust your driving style, but I dont want to. I wanna boot it how and when I want to -- thats the idea !!

So I still sit on the remap fence, its a lot of money to spend if my clutch starts slippin' all over again.

And I remember from an age old thread I once posted, thats there's plenty of others sat on this fence too.

simple. dont floor it, just feed the power in... and dont boot it till above 2.5k,

its not hard just dont use the accelerator as an on/off switch...

Ive learnt and my clutch doesnt slip at all now, its held up well at santa pod aswell!

There are 2 options:
1) Uprated clutch, costs £££s
or
2) Get your remap tweaked to reduce the torque at the relevant revs to a level the clutch can handle. Top end power needn't be affected. Cost - should be zero

how i drive fast but using higher gear is half thottle up to 2.5k build up boost and bang foot down and away you go no point in whacking foot down at under 2000rpm really!

i'm just going for drive plate as i'm not going to exceed 320lbs-ft of torque ( 300 is more than enough for the size of car!) but still won't change my style of driving-simple really don't fully depress the accelarater pedal fully untill over 2000-2500rpm, you don't need to just 3/4 will do to get moving at a good pace, cos when wantingto go fast you'll be above 2500 anyway.

I managed to get 27k out of mine before the clutch needed doing, well actualy, she was remapped @58k & the clutch went @ 85k, so I had had a good bit of use out of it.

I had mine replaced at Midland VW, the clutch failed due to the hydro relase thingy spilling oil.

If I remember correctly it cost me about £350 all in.


Worth giving them a bell, their service is top rate & much better than the likes of Birmingham VW.
