I've fitted in a BT module to my Seat Leon (1P) but I cannot seem to control it properly. I can get the unit to pair with my 'phone and it does work as a BT headset. What I can't seem to do is go that bit further and get the unit to do Voice control in English. The coding x2x should set English but the unit steadfastly insists on being German and the following fault codes continually appear in the module diagnostics.

If the CAN bus was disconnected surely it wouldn't work at all. Any ideas how to solve the problem of getting the unit to speak English and stop raising errors?

After discussing this with Sebastian, we have the following suggestions:

First, download and install Beta 803 which includes a label file for this module. This module only comes in 2008 model-year cars, so "Labels: None" on version 704 is not a surprise.

Next, try is recoding the Telephone module with a non-zero WSC. Put something like 00001 or 12345 in the WSC. There are a few modules which aren't happy with zero in there and this may be one of them.

Let us know if that cures it. If not, poke around in the measuring blocks starting at 125 in your CAN Gateway and check if there are any problems with it talking to other modules.

-Uwe-

PS: FWIW, The voice recognition capabilities of this module are said to be somewhat less than optimal.

Thanks for that. I asked for one last favour and drove round. We installed the new version, checked the labels which now show up, added WSC (06441) and IMP (785), coded 422 and cleared codes.

Unfortunately, the nice lady stills speaks to me in German :(

We did look at group 125 on the measuring block but didn't really know what to do and I think I've had all my favours now so I said thanks and came home.

Thanks for trying Uwe, especially since I'm not a customer.

Did you retrofit the whole thing?
Created your own wiring or bought it as retrofitting package?
To which CAN-data bus did you connect it?
MVB 125 and up contain the data bus communication status for each module. Telephone should be in MVB 141.1 What value does the field show?
You may also want to correct your nav/radio coding to ensure that it communicates with the telephone.

Retrofit package using standard VAG parts and loom.

Don't know? I spliced it to the CAN-BUS cabling behind the Sat-Nav.

Ahh we didn't get that high. If I get access to VAG-COM again I'll have a look.

I recoded Radio (0005402) and Sat-Nav (0000004).

The radio coding seems to be incorrect...

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/VW_Radio_System_(RNS-MFD2_CD)

...IMHO it should be 0007402.

Could not set 6402 or 7402. Every time we tried we could hit done but the value stayed the same as it was previously. I sort of assumed this was another symptom of something being wrong.

00x?xxx: Configuration II
+1 = IF-Output
+2 = Telephone Control (CAN)
+4 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel (CAN)
00xx?xx: Speaker Channels
4 = 4 passive Speakers (Front & Rear)
00xxx?x: Sound System Correction
0 = No Sound System (No Correction)
00xxxx?: Configuration III
2 = CD-Changer

Looking forward for your MVB 141.1 test.

I'm traveling to London in April and so hopefully I can find a VAG-COM person to help out then.

Can I get confirmation that the CAN wiring to the BT box must be okay as the gateway can communicate with it (sufficient to get details and error codes), I can change coding values/adaptions and the unit reacts when I press the button on the steering wheel?

Problem solved the easy way!

I swapped an older (5P0) module from my brand new MY08 Altea XL for the 1Z0 one.

The 1Z0 module works perfectly in the MY08 car and the 5P0 module works perfectly in my MY06 Leon. :funk::clap:

Presumably all to do with newer Gateway/ECU code in the MY08 vehicle to 'understand' the 1Z0 module?
