Hi guys,

I replaced my AP coilovers with Weitec Hicon GT's last week.

I've let them bed in for just over a week and around 600miles of driving. From the initial install they felt bouncier than my previous AP's. Tonight i have raised them a few mm on the fronts, 4 threads + i have the passenger side one thread higher as i usually drive with just me in the car (around 2 fingers gap in arches).

My car feels like a boat in comparison with the previous coilovers, i suppose my question is do these firm up or after 600 miles will they always be this bouncy/soft ? When i adjusted them there was very little force required in moving the spanner which supprised me.

I am hating the thought of buying new coilovers and losing all this money but i have lost confidence in my car and feel like I'm going to bottom out, i dont drive like a loon but definately prefer the firmer more planted stance i had previously.

On another note I am still getting a clunking noise which i had hoped the new top mounts and bearings would rectify. I have replaced alot on my suspension now:
front and rear wishbone bushes
ball joints
arb bushes
drop links
top mounts
coilovers
top mount bearings

over rough terrain, the kind of pitted concrete or raised slabs when exiting car parks i get a rattle/clunk/knock coming from the front of the vehicle. When i changed the droplinks the collars on the ARB seemed to be ok so im lost for ideas. I suppose if there is a problem with the ARB it will cause more body roll. There is also a singular clunk when braking in reverse from drivers side but the control arm bushes were replaced not long ago and they're in good condition, i suspect brake pads hitting carriers or engine mount below engine coolant.

Any ideas before my beloved beefa swallows more money ?

My suspension cost over £600 and it's hard as nails. High cost doesn't mean soft ride at all.

im in the same boat mate.. hah see what i done there.. but yea i had this clunking noise, got new bearings and top mounts through a service, fixed it for about 50 miles and now its back. Coilovers are getting fitted next week and im hoping they find something wrong so i can get it fixed.

Nooooo.

What made you change btw?

Bearings were shot, adjusters corroded in place and springs looking worse for wear becginning to rust as paint had flaked. Made sense todo all together.

Neil what sort of ride height are you running ? I suppose I could tighten top mount nut down further ?

Mcd90 if you find anything please let us know mate

top mounts and bearings, thought these were the same.

top mounts are the big rubber mounts at the top of the strut..bearings drop inside them.,so two different things
