ok so my car won't start, i changed the coil pack in mid jan/feb, and now it feels like it's f'd up again, that's 5 months since i changed it, is this right?
it basically won't start, and then when it does it chokes out and dies, then several attempts again it will fire then choke out, it did that the last time, and it was the coil pack, it's annoying, no where open now/tomorrow! :censored:

Something doesnt sound right there mate, you should get more than that out of a coil, I changed mine about a year and a half ago and its OK. Then again it could be a duff one? Have you got an ammetre you can check it with? I really dont think it could be that, sounds like a fuel starvation issue, what about your fuel filter? or fuel pump relay perhaps? sorry cant be any more help good luck dude...

i had a similar problem to that, my car wouldnt start, well it would for about a second then cut out...but mine did start when i opened the bonnet for some reason.
when i took it to the garage, they changed one of the temperature sensors i believe and now it works

yeah that's what's iffy, ok a year understandable, 5months? bloody ridiculous!
well it's just like it was when the coil pack went before, kinda annoying, i got it OEM from GSF from a mate who works there, so getting a new one tomorrow, and they are going to check take the old one, if defective i will get my money back (touchwood), as his gaffa said 5months is ridiculous, find out tomorrow after my uni (3 bloody hour) exam lol

My mates got a mk3 cupra his had it a year and his on his 4th set lmao

the mk3's and leons blow them all the time but they have a coil pack for each cylinder iirc.

The coil on the Mk2 is atleast more resilient than that! My mate used to drive around with 2 spare coil packs in her LCR!

It wouldn't surprise me, I've heard of people replacing theirs like 3 times in a year, though I'm sure from records, mine hasn't been changed in around 4 years. :funk:

my mate just gave me an idea, he was faffing around with my car key the otherday, and opened it and was having a laugh pressing the buttons, i didn't think too much of it, as the buttons on the keys never worked, but would this effect the immobiliser?
if so how does the inside (of a standard) key look like?

The chip is about the size of a small fingernail, sits on one of the sides in the same piece of plastic that the blades in.

Try a spare set of keys, if it the key crack your mate, they aint cheap.

it was the immobiliser! got it checked out today, well the chip in the key was fooked! so got a new one in (well being done now, a great place in cov called Vehicle Repair Specialist, its right next to AP Racing, specialise in electrical/engine management faults)

it's going to cost £55 + price of immobiliser code off of SEAT/VW, he said it should be £80 which ain't bad!

I must be an exception, never had to change one :funk:

i pressed quote on that statement to add +1 as i had never had one gone either but as i was about to type mrs calls me to deliver her holiness to the local eatery but on route i get a popping under load to an eventual stall - bugger you mofo's

after prat-arsing around at work collecting parts ( i have keys to a motor factors :) ) i try a full throttle spin over and it fires !!! :) runs now but wont start unless full throttle and once running just dies under load at low revs

ordered a complete coil/igniter already as it looks like you lot cursed me [:@][:@]
