Just done some checking with ETKA over the history for these coilpacks.

07K 905 715 was dropped on 01.03.06. Replaced by 07K 905 715C
07K 905 715C was dropped on 01.03.09. Replaced by 07K 905 715D.
07K 905 715D was dropped on 01.05.09. Replaced by 07K 905 715F.
07K 905 715F is the current part number.

The engine codes these were fitted to were BWA, BWJ, BZB, BWA1, CDAA & CDLA.

Hope this may help.

Just checked the V5 and I have the BWJ engine. Think I may check if they need replacing too.

I can confirm seat barlows in wolverhampton are doing the coil pack upgrades for free, sitting in barlows right now having the car serviced and they just told me! One problem about 10 months ago I replaced two will they give me a refund NO. Better than nothing I suppose.

Called up my local dealers to ask if my 07 Cupra needed the coil packs changed, they didn't know anything about a recall so they carried out a VIN number search of my car on the system and said 'sorry sir, there is no outstanding issues on your vehicle so therefore they wont be changed'.

What do I do because I pulled them out and they are part number 07K 905 715C, i.e. the older design coil packs?

Just popped into my local SEAT dealership (Lincoln) and asked about this. The guy checked on the computer and did a vin number search and said that as mine (a 58 plate) was a newer chassis number it didn't require the upgrade. They seemed pretty aware of the fault and said that they'd had a few people in for the work to be done!

Just tried with my local dealer and they said no for my 56 plate FR.

I've just wiped the cover off to see which once I have and i've got 07K 905 715B. B doesn't seem to be listed.

Sorry for the confusion, ETKA was a little misleading.
It does show that 07K 905 715C to be a direct replacement for 715 as from 01.03.06, no mention of 715A or 715B (a search on the part no.).
On looking a little deeper, 715A was replaced on 01.06.06 and 715B replaced on 01.10.06.

As it seems that coilpacks are being replaced on 2007 models (715C) but not all later ones, unless someone can provide the part number of the packs that were replaced, it's a little unclear which are the problem ones. It may just be a batch of the 715C, not all of them.

OK just rang my local dealer who instantly knew what I was talking about and noted on their system that 1 of the packs had been changed by the previous owner, but he is going to order up another 4 for me :D

I rang SEAT UK this morning over a friends Cupra (registered 31.03.08). She knew about the issue, checked the VIN and there were no issues with it. She commented that it only really seems to affect cars registered around 2007.

My 07 FR went in for gearbox work a month or so ago. Whilst it was in they said it needed new coil packs, so just changed them. All I had to do was sign the paperwork!

Sometimes pays to stick with the main dealers!!

Called in today, 3 coil packs replaced FOC. 1 was swapped not that long ago by the previous owner (probably at expense!)

Good job Seat Rutherford in Earlston.
