Coil Springs

Has anyone had problems with there coil springs?

My ibiza went into day, as I could hear metal clanging under the car this week but could not see anything.

The garage have found that the clanging is the coil sping on the round cap bit that goes on the bottom of the coil. This is missing and is the thing that I saw fly off the car whilst on the Mway. From them looking at the car the coil spring has snapped!

I don't understand how its happened as the car is just used up and down the Mway and I never drive the car up on cirbs.


Is this a fault with Ibizas or is just the exception of this one.

Would like to know as was thinking of getting another Ibiza in the near future.

Ive not heard of that one before, maybe it was a weak design on that batch? but i have seen a few coil springs come back through warranty at work that have snapped.

getting more common on a lot of cars (just ask a renault megane/clio owner) i personally put it down to our need for softer rides and crap roads and speed bumps but then the government would have thought of that surely ?

i've had to have my ibiza in twice for the coil pack, that's an '04 SX'.

Um, coil pack and coil spring are two different things
