Cold starting problems

Having cold start problems on my 1.6 16V. It'll start from cold half the time, but when it is being temperamental it will begin to start up but then die. It's fine when starting from warm, but it's started making a 'wheezing' sound as it fires up I've noticed.

I've changed the coolant temperature sensor but it made no difference. I'm thinking battery or starter motor. The starter is a pig to get to though, underneath the battery I understand.

When it's running, it's perfect.

Take the battery off for 15 or 20mins to reset things. See if that helps

Was the MAP sensor when mine did it, I had to take it to VW and they changed the CTS as it had a code, didn't fix it then week later it threw up a MAP sensor code, starts fine everytime from cold since

Ok, disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and it seems a lot better. Thanks.
