I have started to notice and others have pointed it out that the back bumper on my R is a different red to the rest of the car I know the front and rear bumpers are plastic but the back looks different the front looks the same as the car but the back just seems darker has anyone else had this problem and what can be done about it.

I think mines the same. Front bumper looks the same but the rear is a different shade - my car is white!

Really when I had my white leon it was fine but I've had a yellow one as well and that bumper looked slightly different but not as much as my red one.

I don't really understand the whole different material so absorbs the paint differently, surely if the cars primed correctly then your painting in the primer not the plastic/metal. It's more likely there process is flawed.

I totally agree surely if its done right it should still be the same colour it shouldn't be a completely different shade.

I had all this with my S3 I brought new last year, the front and rear bumpers were a completely different shade of ibis white! They gave me the same excuse even though I could take them to the A4 I traded in which was also a 2012 car in ibis white that had bumpers that were the same colour as the rest of the car...
I got them to repspray them in the end and they looked no different so just lived with them, but I couldn't get over the fact that on a 36k car it wasn't possible to get the bumpers the same colour surely as said earlier if primed correctly then you are just sticking to the primer and not the paint!!!!

My bumpers matched the rest of car till some idiot decided to go in the back of me now the back one is a differebt shade and thats candy white, ill be visiting different bodyshops soon to see what they would recommend but I know mine has been painted edge to edge rather then blowing it in then they troed cutting the quarters back but that aont worked.

Mines an original k1 so bumpers didn't quite match. (Candy white) then some reversed into the b k so ha it resprayed and now it matches up much better. Had it done at Autotech in High Wycombe!

Fair play mate think I'll be getting mine done cause I know its there and stands out its annoying, theres no seat dealers in West Midlands that has its own body shop they ship them out to other company's which is a bit ****

Yea it is that's why I reckon a lot of cars are different shades because they don't get everything sprayed in the same place they get them done else where.

I work in the industry and hear this all the time. The answer: Bumpers are sprayed at different times in different places to the chassis providing you with different shades. Plastic does also absorb the water based paint differently to metal.

The fix....find the best sprayer recommended and give all the car to match as close as they can

orrrr its had a smash thats been repaired privately.....

quoted me for spraying a bumper off the car, filling /painting dent above pass door and pass side sill - didn't listen to what i asked for and quoted replacing sill - all for the sum of £ 1600 + VAT.

have a laugh and visit, it's an experience although you have to wait for the quote by email and suffer the endless follow up calls / emails
