The DSG is a sealed box and is not opened at dealer level so I dont know how they could say the clutch packs were wear and tear if they went within the first 3 years.

This may be an issue further down the line..? I know VW designed the box to last the life of the car.

Yup, I was told the same thing. If there is a box issue they have to remove it and send it away to be worked on. Not entirely sure how true that is however.

The seven speed is sealed but not the clutch side.

I don't think you need to worry about torque, considering that the GTI 2.0T with more torque has remaps on the 7 speed gearbox that are 380nm.

On the 6 speed they can take up to 450-500 depending on where you read and even more if you adjust the DSG settings and fit stronger clutch paks.

I know there is a new 7 speed in development. I didnt they they did the 2.0TSi with the dry clutch 7speed?

Your right, my mistake. I tend to think of VW / AUDI / Skoda as all one kind of frankenstein of drivetrains and engines.
