!!! Confused !!!

Dealer phoned me today to say that the car was being finished and that two of my options clashed ie, I could either have Bluetooth or I could have the Pre-installation wiring for the Tom Tom Satnav but not both. My reply was to fit the Bluetooth.

Now then, he told me a week and a half ago that my car had been built and awaiting shipment, now there saying it's not finished, I smell a rat or could this be the case? Anybody with any know how on how the Seat Factory operates???

Sounds very dodgy.. Bluetooth dash is different, and if dealer is giving you option of both, then good news for anyone without the bluetooth is they can retro fit? But I was under the impression this was not possible.. Don't have bluetooth or satnav, but surely someone has. Especially seeing as they are giving out tomtoms to anyone who wanted the rip off winter pack. They must have had bluetooth as well!

The Bluetooth on the option list is definately factory fit and includes a larger MFD.

My dealer told me that this would delay my delivery by 12weeks, but as an alternative they could install a PARROT Bluetooth kit at the dealer...

It is very puzzling, I did query it with him, but to no avail.

Apparently, the problem is because both options would want to mute the car's radio for either calls via Bluetooth or directions via the Tom Tom. This just isn't possible for both to control the radio!!!

So, a work around would be to, have the Bluetooth option done, then have the Tom Tom wiring retro fitted so that the Satnav unit was only powered via the car's wiring and the voiced instructions would be via the inbuilt speaker

He told me that if I were to of bought an Altes XL, then this would of been the same, either the Tom Tom could be wired in, or Bluetooth option could be added.

Does this at all sound feasable????

It kind of makes sense to me.

No, that's another confusing part. It's not available as of yet to fit the Leon.

But apparently my car could of had it. Work that one out.

I have just ordered a Leon with Bluetooth option but I decided not to go for the Tomtom adapter as I would not use it often enough.

I visited the Seat dealer in Hampton Court - the staff there were absolutely terrific - so helpful.

I was shown a Tomtom mount in an Altea, but they did not have one to show me on a Leon as that car was currently out on loan. However the dealer did confirm that it was available to order as an option on the Leon and the total cost was £100 (broken down something like £65 for the wiring work and £35 for the "spider" cradle which attaches to the edge of the dashboard).

Nothing mentioned about compatibility issues between Tomtom and Bluetooth.

Were they offering to retro fit the Tom Tom?

When you go back, could you check their Leon out to see if indeed it is fully fitted and working the same as in the Altea??? If it isn't too much trouble that is.

God knows whats going on with these dealers...

Our Cupra is built and in the country but have been told we havent got the tom tom pre wiring as requested as Seat dont do it for the Leon nor the docking station its only for the Altea..

Cupra R: nope, I have ordered it through my company as it's a good deal to get a car through this route. The chap at Hampton Court did definitely confirm that there was a Leon with the Tomtom attachment fitted but it was not available on the day I went. There are some good pictures on one of the threads on this site of someone with it fitted. For me, personally, it looked a bit of a big and clumsy add-on, I was expecting just a couple of little plastic connectors poking out of the dash - instead you get a rather large spider affair which takes over the entire corner and does look like something someone decided to get from Halfords and stick on (this was my personal impression from the fit I saw in that Altea). If I go back there, I'll ask to see that Leon and let you know!

Pummy: I first drove a yellow FR TDI at the dealer near Horley - and whilst it was an amazing drive it was a bit disappointing as the car reeked badly of smoke. At the corners a load of CD cases slid across the back seats, dashboard, glove box, etc and this did not add to the appeal - also the boot was full up. It was the actual dealer's own company car I believe and I caught them out a bit by just showing up and asking if there was a possibility of a drive! I felt a bit bad about that.

At Hampton Court I drove an FR TDI in the grey colour. This one was presented in an immaculate condition and was the reason I've now ordered one. It was really spotless and smelt like a new car. No sign of a yellow one at Hampton Court.

In fact I have been to both dealerships in the past couple of weeks, and both of them seem to have swapped out the FR's they had in the actual showroom which is a shame.

The Yellow Cupra demonstrator is what convinced me. Asked the sales guy to take us out in the car along some of the local stretches and he opened her up a bit and really showed it off. That the salesman I dealt with races alfas on the weekends also helped.

These TomTom mounts must be available for the Leon, my dealers FR demo has one fitted And yes it is definately the hardwired SEAT one.

I would check its not been modified in anyway. And ask them to confirm fitment. For the simple fact that i've had it on good authority with SEAT UK (not customer services, senior management) that the current Altea mount does not fit the Leon due to it not fitting against the dash because of the steep raked windscreen on the Leon.

It required a modification. It may well be they have completed that modification and its under a different part number.

Because a dealer had it on a demo car, doesn't neccersarily mean its an available option, if they've frigged it themselves to fit the car.
