Connecting WAZE to the Car's Infotainment System

Afternoon all - seeing as the car's standard nav system doesn't want to announce speed cameras, traffic and hazards ahead etc, I've decided to use WAZE but I'm unsure how to connect to the Infotainment screen from my phone. I know it can be done, somehow!

Could one of you tech savvy chaps give me a steer please? I really can't find the info in the owner's manual.

And if the standard nav can actually show this info, that would be good to understand as well - many thanks.

Thereafter, you can use WAZE, although as WAZE is now owned by Google all the speed camera, police ahead etc. notifications are displayed in Google maps.

^^^^ PS> if you don't have Android Auto / Apple Play installed, I've seen a USB widget available that will do the job for you.

I’ve just started using WAZE and it’s pretty good. Turned off the chatty lady though, too much nonsense for my liking

PS> It has just occurred to me that, I think, speed camera / traffic etc. notifications only show on Google maps if you are following a navigation route.

They don't show if you're bimbling along following the map.

Is it actually the case that the standard nav isn't capable of showing hazards, traffic warnings, cameras etc?

^^^^ I'm not sure about your Leon Mk4, but the standard nav in my Ateca only shows traffic congestion. It doesn't show hazards, cameras etc.

That's why I use Google maps on the main Infotainment screen, which triggers the inbuilt nav to display on the smaller screen that's part of the instrument binnacle in front of me.

I’ve not used the standard nav for a while and can’t remember. WAZE does show hazards etc and as my wife is in charge of the map, I just do what I’m told by her and the map

I don’t often travel far outside of my locality these days but when I do, I tend to use Waze. I found the real time hazards feature (e.g. existence of potholes, broken down vehicle on the carriageway etc.) to be very good, although I seem to remember the presence of real time hazards does depend on Waze users reporting them.
