Hi all,

New to the site so apologies if this is in the wrong place or anything like that.
Picked up my '03 130 PD this week and couldn't be more happy with it but am already considering a custom remap. I don;t really want to make any other alterations though and wonder if this will be ok? I'm thinking of only going up to around 175/180bhp so nothing too mental but friends have recommended 160 PD airboxes and panel filters as well. I'm new to this game and don't know if these are essential or just an added bonus?

Thoughts please? Also if i get the remap done and then get the other bits will this affect the quality of the remapped performance?

Cheers in advance

Thanks for the quick response,

What about if i didn't get those mods at all? what sort of costs would i be looking at?

i've looked around for maps and custom codes and your looking between £200 - £300 depending on what type of map you want and which company you go with, there are loads of companies on here that offer remaps have a look mate you might find the right one for you.

A PD160 intake and good panel filter are highly recommended

If you take a look at the size difference you'll see why, if you think your car will be putting out more power than a standard PD160

Hi,

I'm in the exact same situation as you!

Got my 54 PD130 about 2 weeks ago and looking at remaps.

I've looked at older threads and you used to be able ot get the parts from the dealers for around £35... It seems they have now got wise to this, and the adaptor and hose will now set you back around £75 inc VAT.

Check the MK4 FAQs for the part numbers.

Green Cotton Filter also comes highyly recommended...

i got an 05 version....i have the green cotton air filter and pd160 air intake but have an st3 box which allows you to remap your car when you like with 3 different maps. i have the original/eco/fast on mine. pm if you want more details!! :)

edit: realised you cant pm me because of the rules, if you have any questions i can answer them here :)

this depends on where your based but i strongly recomend rs tuning in leeds for a custom map! i took mine there and he squeezed 186 bhp and 310 torque, and its clutch friendly with a nice steady torque curve, not like some of the other maps people have on here.

i was just about to invest in one of these pd160 hoses and adapters as i thought they was £35, dont know if to get one now if there £75 are they really worth it?

my clutch is fine mate! yeah was custom mapped on a rr and final rr for proven power at end! i can post a pic up tmrw or something if ur interested. like i said the guy paul at rs tuning really knows his ****! :)

Thanks for your responses. I can see that the box and filter will make things better but would i experience any problems or just not maximising the map if I only went for the remap with no other mods? Am looking at going to around 180bhp and 280 torque

if your going to get a remap, defo get the air intake pipe 1st, reduces any smoke at higher revs and will get the most out the car.

you won't have any problems, just a quick pipe change as fitted to the cupra.

i dont know where you are but id pick someone nearby.
p-torque for the midlands, he fitted the airintake pipe for £60, bear in mind they cost about 65-75 from the dealer.

182 bhp, 311 lb'ft max torque - waiting for clutch slip!

dont bother getting the pd160 intake if you are going to buy it new....its very expesnive for the actual gain you will achieve. I got mine second hand from a chap on here, got the intake and a green coton filter for well cheap. See if you can do that, they pop up on here and on skoda forums as the fabia vrs uses the same adaptor and hose!

also RE: remap, have a look at p-torque, they are based in wlverhampton and loadsa tdi fr drivers on here have them. Im just gonna book mine in for next month i think!

i went to p torque and iim so glad i did , the power delivery after the remap is so smooth u would think that it was a standard road car but very powerfull once th map is done.

i would def recomend p torque and u get before and after rolling road prrint out. ;-)

i agree the air intake pipe isnt very good value for money, but the standard one is so restrictive it really needs to be bigger.
if your compare to my 2.5 dci engine in a nissan its tiny. even the pd160 is small in comparison.

look on my readers ride for a picture 0of the difference, i do agree the original one is quite restricitive, just 75 quid for a hose that is a bit wider is good value? could always make your own !!!

any way keeping checking on here, other ibiza forums, briskoda, ebay and be patien, one will come up sooner or later!

i just wished id bought 100 of them one a few yrs ago when they were £35!
ebay ones were selling for approx £50 plus delivery when i looked. probably better getting one from the forums.
