Coolant leak?

I drive a 08 tdi 1.9 Ibiza that's developed a coolant leak I've never experienced this before just wondering what should I be looking out for when having it over the pit? Temperature needle is been temperamental it sits in the middle where it normally would then it would drop back then move up again through out a journey.. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Check the thermostat housing and plastic pipes on the coolant hoses, water pump casing and radiator first off for pink coolant marks and drips. Shouldn’t be hard to find a coolant leak mate
