Same thing happened to mine. You just have to push the coolant sensor in (with some force) and slide the clip in the groove. Easier to see if you remove the engine cover.
Yeah quite fiddly. Just did the clutch on mine and on the way back to my house the car had overheated. Had a look and the sensor had just fallen out. Had to temporarily hold it in place with a split pin. Worked a treat actually and felt like a more rigid fit than the new clip.
On the right hand side of the engine as your looking at it front the front of the car
If you look at the side of the engine between the airbox and battery, you'll see it, plug goes straight down into the coolant pipe where it enters the block
Is the 130pd fitted with the dodgy black dual sensor like in the passat PD engines? I've heard rumours that there crap and would be best if swapped with the newer green sensors! My passat already has the newer green one but my sisters is black.
