I've found the 'switch' today - which is the one above the gearbox.... but there must be another....

Anyone have a clue where it is? I need to scale it for my MS to work right.

on the 16V ABF it's on the gearbox side of the cylinder head. It's copper coloured and is about 3 inches long. Just below and to the left of the distributor. Any use to you?

yeah, that'd be it - i was hoping it was in a pipe I'd not seen

will go extract now

thanks bud

From Haynes...

Coolant temperature gauge sender - 2.0 16v models

The sender is screwed into the left-hand end of the cylinder head. The coolant temperature gauge sender is the rearmost of the two senders

nice one, all removed, certainly works in a range I want - so I can do it properly tomorrow

I no longer use the haynes :( i found the 4 spanner jobs easier to do without reading it...
