Coolant temp sensor replacement.

I replaced my coolant temp sensor (black one) as it was faulty and bringing on the eml. I put a green one in and all is well.... altho went driving it heats fine to the tick below 90. Heat is fine by the way.. then it takes a while to go to 90.. then when driving straight on the roads it cools to the tick below 90... the thing is it worked fine when the black one as in staying at 90 no movement.. but it brought on the eml as faulty.. Green one doesn't. .. would it be airlocked??

If the needle drops below the 90 I would say your thermostat is getting stuck open. An odb2 bluetooth reader and the torque app will show you the real temperature readings which can be very different to what the needle on the temperature gauge shows.

Genuine sensor or cheapy? I've had brand new sensors form Euro Car Parts read incorrectly from new. Always go genuine when replacing electrical sensors critical to the correct running of the car

If it ISN'T the sensor, then you need a new thermostat as the old sensor was masking the issue

I got the sensor from me mechanics cost 8 or 10 pound... is that a cheap one?

Worth changing the stat too if it hasn't been done so far on the car, I changed my temp sensor and it highlighted an issue with the stat.

Ah I see no probs I'll get this done then thanks all! by the way I have a squealing from the belt when I turn the steering but it's fine when I rev a wee bit no loss in power steering or stiffness in steering possible alternator pulley? Thanks
