coolant temperature sensor?

I plugged my car into vcds today and it gave me the faulty coolant temperatare sensor code but car seems to have been fine although the other half drove it yesterday said whilst she was parked with the car idling she could smell petrol funds could this be related? And i noticed today when slowing down approaching traffic light i slow down but revs don't seem to come down very quick?

Sounds like cts. Faulty one can make it run rich.

Anyone have a part number? I heard there are two sensors a green and a blue or something?

Just swapped mine. Took seconds to do and I had the old black one. Fingers crossed its that or I've got to fit a new stat

Did u have to remove airbox to get access? Loose much coolant?

Nope removed nothing. Pulled the clip and then the sensor. Lost a tiny amount of coolant. Maybe a egg cup or more. Keep header tank cap on at all times. Pushed new sensor in and plugged it in and inserted securing clip.
It's as basic as it gets to be honest.

That was the code I got... I have sent Dave a message hopefully gets back to me soon so I can get it on its way and replaced

Test drove tonight. Gone from low 20 mpg to 30 mpg. But tomorrow I will fit a stat and try to get it back to nearly 40 mpg on motorways like it used to be.

Is this true that a CTS makes a car harder on fuel? I've a 90bhp Revo mapped getting 400mile til the light comes on is this good or bad???

A faulty one does, if thats what you mean? The ecu uses it as a value to know how much fuel to use.

Thank you Slimy mine has the same code so ill get that changed tomorrow, would my tank range seam low? Not heavy right foot but half town half carriageway

Fitted a new stat today aswell as my new cts. Getting 31mpg around town in a LCR. Also my car feels more powerfull and not so limp.

What range should I get from a mapped 90bhp til fuel light comes on? I fill up when light comes on, average 400-420
