Hello,

Not so long ago I was checking my oil etc and saw the coolant looked a little low so I topped it up with a bit of water. From cold starts everything is normal but when starting from a semi-warm/warm engine, the light comes on flashing and it beeps 3 times. In the manual it says that there's too much or too little coolant.

So I took a bit out, but I can't get the damn thing to stop doing it. It's not 100% of the time so I wonder if it's due to the water expanding when it's warm? When the engine is cool it's in-between the min and max marks. If I unscrew the cap when it's warm then it rises above the max.

There's also a socket on the coolant bottle that looks like it's supposed to have a plug in it, except I don't have one in and there doesn't seem to be one hanging around (that I might have knocked out). Does anybody elses have a plug in there?

Cheers

Seat dont use the level sensor (VW and Skoda do) so it wont be anything to do with your water level.

More than likely a faulty coolant temp sensor.

Dont want much do you...lol

1st of all you need to verify that is the fault, VAG COM should bring up any fault codes. A sensor is around £20 and it is mounted in the coolant housing near the tandem fuel pump on the engine (right hand side of the cylinder head)

m8 i've got the same on my 1.4TDi. When you start the engine when the key has been turned to the ignition on position it beeps but if you just start it straight away (i.e not stopping at the ignition on position) it doesn't beep???
