Corsa VXR Vs Ibiza FR

a VAUXHALL CORSA vxr  sorry lads but im certainly not a fan they look SH1t (IMO) and chavey is ithe only word for them i like the astra tho :hide:  but would NEVER want that over my cupra

Agreed, from what Ive read its not all that, its a dime a dozen car and the styling is kinda love it or hate it due to it being a bit chavvy.

Id rather have a clio than the corsa.

Well done to Vauxhall though, getting 190bhp out of 1.6T,whereas the Cupra manages 180 out of 1.8T?

Nothing really to impressive about that. The japs have been getting similiar power out of such small units for over the past decade now.

I dont think the corsa VXR unit will be much of a tuners vehicle.

hasn't the VXR got a better 0-60 time than the Cupra being at under 7secs compared to 7.4??? (standard off-course)

I would rather have a Cupra than a VXR.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO REMEMBER THE IBIZA IS 5 YEARS OLD NOW! The VXR is new...so the comparison over engine/chassis/suspension is null and void...sorry but thats my opinion:happy:

I was thinking about buying a Cupra before I bought the FR...very happy with my purchase, but I've always bought top of the range models! *what a snob, hey*

So IMO Cupra all the way, two fingers up at the VXR...chavs

by the looks of the video the Corsa has a bit more mid range over the clio. Its hard to tell about the Ibiza.

I know I had a stint like that the other day with a mate in his CTR and we were very close. In a straight line he is quicker after about a 100. I am quicker rolling in 2nd. How do these VXR Corsas compare to the CTR? My car is a FR Tdi with remap btw. :)

The next ibiza looks to be a real scorcher. Word is that the platform will be shared with audi and the top version will have 200hp. No word on what motor it would be using though. I presume the updated and refreshed 1.8 FSI T with valvelift.

I reckon it will be the same engine from the golf gti 2.0t with 200bhp, I reckon it will weigh loads more too

I know what my next car will be if it has the 2 litre engine in it with a K03s on!

I thought the 2.0 was lighter than the older 1.8?

Would be a cracking car :D

I always thought the honda S2000 was supposed to be stupidly quick but a friend of mine raced one in a remapped Cupra TDI and beat it.
No doubt the S2000 sounded much better than the Cupra but the S2000 didn't have the smoke screen making ability either.

I have just finished reading the evo article and am a little bemused. They seemed to really like the ibiza and liked its old school charms. However it only got 3.5 stars which contradicts the write up.

All the other cars have grown since their previous incarnations, have more modern engines etc. The VXR imo looks like its been driven through a demon tweeks followed by a halfrauds catalogue! Its just vile and ott

The Ibiza looked tiny in comparison to those latest beasts. I'm not a fan of the way car design is going these days. Does a supermini really need 18" alloys? They aren't superminis anymore. The mini should be the BMW 0.5 series not the mini as its no where near it!

I think that the Mk5 platform will be much 'better' for the next gen Ibiza, hopefully they'll dump the rear suspension setup, which will bring it on a level playing field with the other three cars reviewed.

Agreed, sporty Vauxhalls all seem to look like they have been used to ram raided ripspeed halfords after being dipped in hot glue.

yeah but they needed to do something with their cars as they used to be very dull and bland, and solely for reps cars. they needed a change of image, I think they have done well albeit a bit ott

i wonder how many on here that have said it looks shite, also think the new leon cupra isn't in your face enough?or that different from the FR.

tbh if i was an 18-25 year old lad i'd probably take one out for a test drive,as a 36 year old "lad" i wouldn't even consider it,apart from the mirrors it looks quite funky.it's going to be the fact that alot of the owners will rubbish the car by"modding" it,which there is no need.tune it yes, just leave the looks alone(cept maybe a an offset viper stripe, over the drivers side, driver comes with matching tracksuit(i saw this on a fiesta si a fews weeks back,i **** you not.)

Dont think the engine in the Corsa VXR will have the same high level of tuning capabilties as the already proven 1.8T.

P.S

I think the the new 2.0T is lighter than the 1.8T in the current ibiza however the new 1.8T has now been updated. I will post the specs of it later tonight if anyone wishes to see it.
