Most cars I have seen without them have been company or hire cars - the free tech pack is only offered to private buyers.

Ah, I thought it was on any SE and FR models. Didn't realise it was only available to private buyers.

I don't have some much of a problem the light emitted and the distance I can see, and touch wood I've not had the problem with the auto level, but I do have a problem with the performance in freezing conditions, they build up snow and ice over the lens reducing visibility, you have to stop to clean it off is that safe? Not really, ok we don't get much snow in the UK but the car was designed for this market so should perform accordingly, if you have the winter pack with washers (I don't) it sounds as though you don't have as much of a problem.

I got the free Tech Pack when I brought mine so would I pay for LED lights? No I personally don't think they are worth the extra £1000 for the the Tech Pack, I would do what I have with my other car Night Breakers, or if an option factory fit xenons.

Yeh, as there is no heat from them the snow can settle, I pity anyone on a snowy motorway at night using them.

Applying a quick detailer on the lenses keeps them cleaner for longer IME. Sonax Brilliant Shine detailer is super slippery and smells like Nice biscuits too :)

So you drove along an unlit A road with your lights on full beam, seeing whether you dazzle oncoming traffic to the point of them needing to flash you or not? Were you trying to cause an accident? What would you have done/felt had you caused an accident? Are you a bit of a twat?
No I don't think I am but others more qualified may disagree. it tends to be an occupational hazard and I've been called worse. in answer to your question, lights were dipped as soon as an oncoming motorist flashed, and only returned to main once they had passed and if there was no other vehicle approaching. equally I didn't do it if there was a vehicle in front.
I chose that particular road as it's unlit for most of the way through countryside , and at the time chosen to do the experiment the traffic is light and sparse.
With regard to being blinded causing accidents, I did check and there were no cars in the ditches or up lamp posts/telegraph poles. If you are being blinded by headlights and feel you may have/cause an accident, a few tips. 1. stop driving. 2. don't look at the light! 3. lower your vision to the nearside kerb.
No No, don't thank me, advice is free.

looks like I will have to live without, shame as from a style point of view think they look real nice.

Will definitely get reverse sensors, I know these are more simple to get installed! :)

I prefer them to halogen and I don't think they have the retina burning glare of xenons. Nice and crisp light just where you want it.

I'm surprised that used cars with them command a premium over those without as I bet most with them were spec'd using the free tech pack offer. Surely there's enough supply to meet demand?!

Surprises me to see FR models without the LED's. Can't fathom why people wouldn't chose them seeing as they're free and make the car look much nicer.

I don't think it's the case that cars with the tech pack are commanding a premium, not as such... More like the ones without it aren't holding their value as well because they're harder to sell given there are so many available with the tech pack. You can buy a mk3 for less than ten grand now, if you aren't bothered about the LEDs.
