Cover for carpet cutout?

There's a cutout in the carpet of my Leon FR, just in front of the driver's seat (I'm tall, so I have the seat fully back), and the cut-out piece has come adrift. I think the cutout might be for an exit for cabling for equipment I don't have? There are a couple of threaded studs under it, and I guess I must catch it with my feet getting in or out.

Anyway: is there a cover of any sort that would fix over it? I could glue the carpet but I'm not sure how tidy or durable that will be.

I remember my Scirocco had a cover of some sort in about that place.

Well it does exist.

As seen here on my 64 plate FR. It is also present on the passenger side in a similar position. I had not noticed it before. It looks like you would have to cut it to remove it though. Some sort of inspection hole? Or for heated seat wiring option?

It's not for heated seats- mine has those. If I lift the insulation under the carpet, there's a couple of threaded studs below.

The carpet is partially cut through- there are sections left connected usually.

My FR is a facelift 2018.

I can remember back in the late 2000’s / early 2010’s with the mk6 VW Golf, some items of optional equipment were fixed to the floor pan under the front seats; Bluetooth module under the drivers seat and the amp for the upgraded sound system under the passenger seat.

So is it possible those studs might be as attachment points for certain items associated with optional equipment in some higher end or top of range models?

Yes, I remember that was the case with my Scirocco. It didn't have BT fitted, but that is where it would have been.
